Story
Thank you for visiting my London Triathlon 2010 page.
You may be asking why I'm running a triathlon? Good question, I keep asking myself the same thing! Having turned thirty last summer and feeling rather unfit I decided I needed to start exercising. Being rubbish at doing exercise for its own merits, I realised that having something to aim for would make it a bit easier. Unfortunately, whilst down the pub, a friend mentioned the London Triathlon. It all kind of went downhill from there and I am now facing a 750m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run.
Thankfully I am not alone, as my mate Colin Oatley is also taking part. I am in no way planning to be the fastest, but want to be able to say “I ran a triathlon!” I will be raising money for the charity The Leprosy Mission, who works with people affected by leprosy. Leprosy is easily curable, but due to the continued stigma, many people hesitate to seek help. At least one person finds out they have leprosy every two minutes and just £20 can help them recover. My father-in-law has been involved with the charity for over 40 years and has recently been elected to the World Council. I thought this would be a good opportunity to support his efforts. I am hoping to raise at least £750.00 as this is all that's needed to build a house for someone affected by Leprosy. Anything that you can donate will be much appreciated and could make a huge difference. Wish me luck, I may need it!
