Hello Sir/Madam,
On September 19th I will be running the Edinburgh Half Marathon for the Stroke Association. This will be my first official run and I am hoping all my practice running late for buses will help me finish!
For those who may not know my mum suffered a major stroke in February 2014. She underwent two life-saving operations and spent the next 6 months in hospital recovering.
During this time I was able to witness the remarkable and unexpected improvement my mother made due to proper rehabilitation and care. The happiness brought to our family after seeing her walk out of the hospital she was hoisted into many months prior was unbelievable.
The Half Marathon will fittingly be a year after my mum was discharged from hospital and allowed to come home.
My mother has continued to make significant recovery since coming home due to many community services which have been available to us. The quality of life and independence she has gained since then has exceed all the expectations set to us by medical professionals.
She continues on a long road of recovery but is extremely grateful for the support she has received from everyone around her.
This immense recover has been significantly benefited from the various therapy's and rehabilitation services available.
The Stroke Association aims to improve the quality and quantity of these services which will improve Life After Stroke. So that is why I am supporting this charity.
Any donation is greatly appreciated and really does mean a lot to me. I hope you will support myself and the Stroke Association to allow vital services and research to be continued to be carried out to help Stroke victims.
Many thanks and much love,
Daniel x
