Story

On the 10th April this year marks 10 years since we lost a well loved man I called my dad. He fought a long battle with cancer and spent his final days in the care of St. Margaret’s Hospice in Whitecrook. Good friends of my dad decided to raise some funds to donate to the hospice ... £20,000 was raised. Amongst his friends was John Geegan who sadly lost his battle with cancer soon after. A group of dads friends decided to set up the Duntocher Foundation in their memory as a charity to help many families facing similar difficulties. I will be sober for 100 days starting 1st January, ending on my dads anniversary, this day a group of friends including myself will be climbing Ben Nevis. There will be other charitable events taking place and details will follow.

“The Duntocher Charitable Foundation is a community based initiative aimed at providing assistance to individuals or families who find themselves in need of support due to serious illness or other life-changing events. The Foundation is also keen to assist children of affected families in such circumstances and to ensure their education is allowed to continue in as normal a way as is reasonably possible.
Although supporting individuals within the local community will be the main focus of the charity, support will also be made available to other Charitable Organisations in the Clydebank and Duntocher area which have similar aims to the Foundation.”

About the charity

Founded in 2016, the Foundation raises funds for those most in need. The care given to our great friends Stephen Burns and John Geegan, and the inspiring example set by the SENIT Foundation in Inverclyde, are the main factors that prompted us to formally set up our charity. Thanks for your support.
