Story
Thank you all for taking the time to visit my personal JustGiving fundraising page for SameYou!
As many of you know I am a survivor of an acute brain injury myself. In 2005 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and my treatment and recovery process was unique -- as everyone's is that has had to endure brain injury.
I talk a lot about the symptoms of brain tumors, my personal experience, and treatments; however, what I have failed to do is focus on the recovery process and how integral it is within the course of healing.
SameYou was launched in 2019 with a focus on neurorehabilitation for individuals who have suffered strokes and brain injury. These services are severely under funded or in some cases don't even exist as of yet. We focus a lot on funding surgeries, cures for diseases/cancers, etc; however, when it comes to brain surgery you are not simply 'cured' afterwards without a little help getting there.
1 in 3 people in the world will have an acquired brain injury at some point in their life. That's more than 2 million in the UK (where SameYou was founded), 12 million in the US and a staggering 135 million worldwide.
We need YOU to help to get neurorehabilitation recognized as a priority service for those who need it most, and in order to get there we need to start with funding.
I know my goal is an ambitious one this year, BUT I'm hopeful we can do it together.
Love you all so much as always, and anything you can do to help will mean the world to me and so many others.
