Story
On Sunday the 8th of May I'll be taking part again in the annual Fred Whitton Challenge in the Lake District. This will be the seventh time that I have taken part. Last year's event was delayed until September due to Covid restrictions, so this year's event has come around fast! I'm hoping that the weather in May will be better than it was last September.
The page for the event is at www.fredwhittonchallenge.co.uk
Considered by many to be the toughest one-day cycling event in Britain, it has a total climb of over 4000m (about four times the height of Snowdon!) and includes the 1 in 3 Hardknott Pass (one of the steepest roads in the country) which will be climbed having already covered 90 miles.
Whenever I enter the event, the donations that I receive far exceed my expectations. This year I'm taking a low-key approach again as I appreciate that there are lots of good causes to donate to. However, if you would like to donate to Macmillan by sponsoring me then you're in the right place! Like many charities, Macmillan have struggled over the last few years.
It would be great to hit my target of £500. Without donations, Macmillan can't provide the first-class support to cancer patients and their families that they are known for.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails.
