Story

For those that don't know me, I'm Damien, and I live in the Shetland Islands in the UK. I'm a big fan of heavy metal and have been for many years, and because of so many members of the bands I love have or have had long hair, I decided to grow mine out to look the part.

I started growing my hair in 2009, and a couple of years later it was properly long. For the most part I've kept it just below my shoulders, but at its longest it was almost at my waist. It helped my appearance on stage when playing with bands over the course over almost 10 years. I love my hair, but the time is nigh for me to cut it off. As such, I've decided to do a bit of fundraising for Cancer Research UK, and I will be donating what hair is cut off to the Little Princess Trust so it goes to good use, rather than going in the bin.

There are members of the bands that I love that have suffered with cancer, and some have succumbed to the disease. More recently, a member of my family has fought against it and won, and I'm so grateful that he managed to do so. Unfortunately not everyone is so lucky, and hopefully whatever money I raise can go towards helping to cure this horrible disease.

I plan to have my head shaved in the last weekend of August, and I will likely livestream it on Facebook too.

Thanks for any donations!
