Event: MAG - Battersea Power Station Abseil, on 2 May 2010
We clear landmines and destroy weapons to save and improve lives worldwide.

Story

Battersea Power Station is the biggest surviving brick building in Europe. It's the UK's biggest Building at Risk and it's right here in my home Borough of Wandsworth.

Until we know what the new planning application for the latest scheme brings by way of a positive new future for the Power Station, I'm glad to be doing this for several reasons:

to support a really worthwhile charity

to get a unique viewpoint on the conservation challenges of this iconic building

to appreciate its sheer vastness in a way not possible from the ground or even from a helicopter.

It's a great cause- please support me. I especially need your help as I'm not great at heights but I'm doing this for all the right reasons. I promise to send you 10 photographic images of the view from the top by email in return. Fingers crossed!

Thanks!

About the charity

Every single day, 13 people are killed or injured because of landmines and other explosive weapons. Half of all civilian casualties are children. MAG finds and destroys these weapons to save lives and rebuild futures; helping people to grow crops, attend school and build homes.
