Story
This is hard to write really as we only lost nan last August and we used to see her everyday! We miss her dearly and life isn’t the same without her and never will be but we have to stay positive and move forward with our own lives. She was our rock though, the one we all went to for support. She was kind , loving , generous and a real character. She was a tough cookie aswell having suffered a broken back when she was young, hip replacements, heart attacks and more but none of us are invincible and unfortunately in the end another illness got the better of her but not without a real good fight!! She missed grandad dearly since he passed away a few years ago after being inseparable for many many many years but was never lonely as we all used to pop in daily for a cuppa and a giggle. She liked deal or no deal and Jeremy Kyle and even judge rinder! All the good ones lol. The tv was just background though, she liked to hear what we were up to mainly..Family was her main interest and then the carboot sale lol.Anyway I’m rambling on now and the reason I’m attempting to complete the 2020 London marathon is in her honour and to raise much needed funds for a very worthy cause. I can’t say enough good things about every single member of the st Helena team from the kitchen staff to the nurses that provide care beyond belief! Don’t get me wrong my nan was very loveable but to see the nurses building a relationship with her when she was so poorly was heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. To give that level of care and love to someone you barely know when you know the inevitable outcome takes a certain type of person. St Helena really made Nans final weeks as comfortable as they could be and we are eternally grateful for that. Hopefully we as a family will not need to visit again but Unfortunately there’s many that do need there care and raising money for this place is so important so please donate whatever you can afford to help, however small it all helps. I’ll keep you updated with training so you can see me suffer for the cause if that helps you put your hand in your pocket.
Thanks in advance for donating and Thanks st Helena for loving our nan x
Look out for updates and wish me luck
