THE EWE MUST BE JOKING, “EWE MUST TRI HARDER CHALLENGE
2016”
PART ONE
Dave will be
leaving the hotel in Llanberis and cycling up the Llanberis pass with his trusty side kick and tormentor Kelvin. Once at the top of the pass they will continue to make their way to Lyn Ogwen in the Ogwen valley. The distance is approximately 15 miles but with a height gain of 570M and a decent of 365M.
When Dave gets off his bike or is prised off his bike by Kelvin, he will then have the challenge of climbing four mountains. This includes 3 of the Welsh 3000’s and one we can’t pronounce the name of. This adds another 1150M of height gain to Dave’s tally for the day.
Once safely reunited with his bike, Dave has to ride back to Llanberis but only having to deal with a height gain of 365M plus a
lovely decent of 570M. The decent for Dave will be a lot more interesting than usual because for this to be a true Tri event (Triathlon), a water element needs to be introduced or in this case BEER. Luckily for Dave there is a pub at the top of Pen Y Pass and one in Nant Peris, so Daves decent could take some time.
PART TWO/DAY TWO
With the rest of the EWE MUST BE JOKING team assembled, the plan is to get all the various shapes and sizes of this motley crew to the top of Tryfan via the North ridge. Then after a short descent and just to scare them even more it’s a climb up Bristly ridge before making their way to the Cantilever stone. Here the survivors will have a team photo taken whilst perched on the very end of said stone. Then it’s back down to sea level for the water side of this Tri
challenge via another grade one scramble to find a pub. Strangely enough, some of the team seem far more enthusiastic about tackling the pub part of this challenge, rather than, The fresh air, The exercise, Oh and the sheer drops and death defying leap on top of Tryfan.
A summary of the “EWE MUST TRI HARDER CHALLENGE 2016”
