Having been a type 1 insulin dependent diabetic for 23 years, I am now the proud owner of one of the first waterproof insulin pumps, called an Omnipod,  in the area.

When I saw this 22 mile swim challenge based over 2 months I thought it would be a good way to test my new pump whilst at the same time raising awareness for Diabetes UK and all the good work that they do for people like me.

I plan to complete the 22 mile swim which is the equivalent to the English Channel in both the Low Wood Bay hotel leisure pool and the Sandpiper Club pool at Lancaster House.
