Story
Bladder cancer is not a rare cancer - it is one of the ten most common cancers in the UK - that's 4% of all new cases. Over 20,000 people are diagnosed each year, and many of those will die. Despite this, there is very limited public awareness of the disease and it is a low priority on the public health agenda. Treatments have changed very little over the past 30 years and research is seriously underfunded. Bladder cancer has been called a 'Cinderella' cancer. ABC UK is dedicated to changing this and to giving bladder cancer patients a voice.
My husband was diagnosed with bladder cancer in February 2021. He has had 2 operations but luckily for us, Edward is currently free of the disease. Thanks to Drs Jim Catto, Sanjeev Pathak and David Smith at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield…& thanks to you for giving to help those less fortunate than we have been.
