Story
Julia’s House Children’s Hospice care for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families across Wiltshire. The coronavirus pandemic has affected every aspect of their service and they are continually adapting to a new and changing reality. They were already providing 70% of their care in the community before
the pandemic, but have been continuing to visit local children and families in their homes. The families are lonely, isolated and fearful and their nurses and carers are often the only support they’re receiving at home with many having lost other respite care during lockdown.
Julia’s House respond to the individual needs of each child and family with bespoke help and support. Their online activities such as play sessions and story time as well as virtual support for parents and siblings, ensure they can reach even those families who
are still shielding. Their support means seriously ill children are in safe and caring hands, while families have a much needed break to rest and recharge so they can cope during the crisis.
