I'm running the 2017 Berlin Marathon for Prostate Cancer UK.
Ignoring prostate cancer won't beat it. Prostate Cancer is the most common type amongst men and in 2016 one man an hour died from it. We all know someone who has been affected by cancer, and while all cancers need our attention, prostate cancer is often overlooked and many men are too embarrassed to get a check, or simply unaware of the severity of it. The target is 500 but ideally I'd like to raise double that and create awareness while doing so.
On a personal level this is a big challenge for me. As someone who never exercised much before and always had issues with my weight, thinking I would run a marathon back then would have seemed impossible (and a stupid idea). However, this is a challenge I know I can achieve with the correct training, and support from my family and friends.
Wish me luck! I can taste the post race German beer already.
