Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
18 months ago I was struck by an, as yet undiagnosed, neurological condition that has similarities to M.S which amongst other things, took my sight, left me doubly incontinent. Add to that the pain receptors blew a fuse so that I am always in excruciating agony and I am on ridiculous amounts of pain relief. I was hospitalised in Frenchay hospital for 8 weeks and the road has been filled with bumps and cracks, including a successful tussle with bladder cancer. I am registered blind, I'm doubly incontinent, I'm constantly fatigued just doing the most mundane daily chores, I can barely walk and I am overcoming severe depression, hardly surprising huh? I also suffer from M.E/CFS which I have had for over 20 years now, fibromyalgia for the same amount of time, an ulcer, Reynaulds syndrome and a few other choice conditions. All in all it's been a bit of a shock to say the least and it is not too small a thing to say that without the care and support that both my wife Gina and I had from the RNIB throughout the first few months and still today, well, I don't know where we would be. The RNIB/Action for blind have always been there in times of need with advice and help; they have always been there and able to give me lots of advice and gadgets to help me gain a level of independence that I never thought I could achieve. The support has been practical, physical and mental. So, I need to help but how? I cannot run, I don't fancy shaving my head (those of you who know will understand why) and I really do not want to sit in a bath of baked beans! So what's left, I know - I am terrified of heights, I have never flown so I will jump out of an aeroplane from 15000 ft and float gently back to earth - piece of cake!!!
To say that RNIB are BRILLIANT is an understatement. I need to give something back to this wonderful organisation - I NEED your help to do this, so please please give generously to this much appreciated cause, thank you very much for reading, thank you very much for just giving xx
