Story
As most of you already know, my wife Sarah works as an Occupational Therapist in Hackney. Part of this includes working with a variety of organisations, as well as children and families. One of the groups she works with was set up in 2017 by two parents who decided they wanted to help parents like them with children with additional needs. They believe that families and carers of SEND can share particular expertise and experience, and in bringing them together in friendship and in a supportive environment, they aim to help them and their children to flourish.
As1 supports parents and families with children with special educational needs and disabilities.Through their support group, coffee mornings and events, they make sure families never feel alone. As1 have so many plans for the future - creating a buddy scheme, taking families on weekends away, providing training and education, and raising even more awareness of the needs of SEND children.
To help them to do this I'm going to run 13.1 miles around the parks and streets of Hackney on Saturday 16th May 2020. I started running in January this year and this will be my first attempt at a half marathon. So if you can offer any words of wisdom and at the same time sponsor me to help raise money for As1 I'll do my best to keep the spring in my step until I reach the finish line!
Thanks for your support.
