Story

Thank you for visiting my page and taking interest in what I'm doing and most importantly the charities I'm looking to donate to.
Having been threatened with the dangers of cancer and being close to many who have suffered from many different variations of cancer I've always had an interest in doing what I can to support the people going through these tough times.
I'm hoping this will help raise awareness and inspire others in supporting charities/causes close to your hearts.
I'll be donating my hair to Little Princess Trust, whilst also raising funds for Throat Cancer Foundation.
Thank you for your time reading my page, you don't need to donate knowing it is difficult times, I just hope I can help inspire people to raise money or inspire actions for causes close to our own hearts, so we can help make big differences to those suffering. I wish you all well

Since 2020 I've been growing out my hair with the goal of donating to the little princess charity. I've never had hair long enough to support this amazing cause and now proud to be in a position to donate and help them in their heartwarming cause.
I can only hope this may inspire many more out there to consider donating their hair to this brilliant cause.

About Little Princess Trust:
The Little Princess Trust provides free real hair wigs to children and young people, up to 24 years, who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions
Providing free real hair wigs is at the heart of what we do, but we also want to support the development of less aggressive and less toxic cancer treatments. In 2016, thanks to the huge efforts of our fantastic fundraisers, we were able to begin funding academics and organisations involved in researching the causes of paediatric cancer.

I wish to help support the Throat Cancer Foundation as the effects of this terrible affliction have affected many people in my life with some still going through treatment to this day. I'm hoping my funds will help support this foundation and help them continue to provide support to many affected by fastest-growing cancer in the UK.

About Throat Cancer Foundation:
* What is Throat Cancer
Throat cancer is a series of several different types of cancer which can affect the throat, mouth, neck and chest. We refer to these as throat cancers, but medically they are known by other names that you may hear from doctors, nurses and researchers: oropharyngeal cancer, head and neck cancer, oral cancer, and mouth cancer.

* What causes Throat Cancer
There are a number of risk factors which can cause throat cancer. The two biggest causes are tobacco and alcohol – these can be very damaging for the throat and cause the most cases of throat cancer in the world. Another cause is HPV – HPV is the Human Papillomavirus and it is thought to cause an increasing number of cases of throat cancer

* What is HPV
HPV, or Human Papillomavirus, is an infection which lives in the skin and is extremely contagious. 80% of people will have had an HPV infection by the time they reach middle age. The majority of people will have little or no symptoms. For some people HPV can develop into cancer: throat, anal, vaginal, cervical and vulval cancers can all be caused by HPV.

* Impact of Throat Cancer
Treatment can include chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, or a combination of all these. It is a gruelling and draining process often over months and in some cases years.
Even when a patient survives throat cancer they can experience many ongoing side effects such as hair loss, nausea, weakened immune system, diarrhoea and constipation, mouth ulcers, constant fatigue, tissue damage, saliva gland damage and mucositis (inflamed and ulcerated lining from the mouth to the throat, making it extremely difficult to eat or drink), and dental and hearing problems.
Some lose their voice boxes and others the ability to eat solid foods, relying heavily on permanent feeding tubes. Many of these side effects are life-changing and can last for months, or years or are sadly permanent.

* Why is it so important to do this?
The survival rates for throat cancer can be good if caught early enough, but too often people are not aware of the symptoms to be aware of to catch the disease early enough.
The rates of throat cancers continue to increase dramatically year after year. It is important that people who are affected have up-to-date information available to help them understand and cope with their diagnosis. Information on throat cancers and their impact are still sadly lacking.
