I was searching for support and information about inflammatory bowel disease and came across the GetYourBellyOut campaign.

This campaign was started by four girls; Sahara, Victoria, Lorna and Gem to raise awareness of IBD and money for CCUK. They encourage everyone to get their bellies out, take a photo with the hashtag #GetYourBellyOut and make a donation using the text code IBDA99 to 70070

I joined their facebook support group, supported people where I could, made friends with others going through the same as me, including the four founding members, til eventually they asked me along with two others Lisa Cummins and Lee Regis, to help them be admin on the group which now was over 2.500 members! I was honoured. I feel like we've become part of the team since then. We all talk everyday and try to keep 2500 'bellies' happy and supported everyday

MY STORY:

When I was 17 I was finally diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. This is a form of IBD. (Inflammatory Bowel Disease)

When I was 20,  I had to have my large intestine/colon removed and they made a Jpouch using part of the remaining small bowel.

I have just had more surgery in December 2014 to remove my fallopian tubes that were attached to my jpouch. Luckily there was no damage to my bowel and this was in aid of raising IVF success due to a condition called Hydrosalphinx caused from fluid and blocked tubes from previous bowel surgery
