Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am just a girl recovering from anorexia. I've been struggling with it since the age of 13 but have recently realised that recovery IS POSSIBLE and that I want to give it my best shot! Through support from my boyfriend and my Instagram account; my_life_without_ana i have started to slowly rediscover life and all the possibilities it has to offer.

I have been hospitalised 3 times during my illness but my experience in the last year has been the most scarring. My weight dropped dramatically in December 2015 and I had to be emergency referred to a general ward for tube feeding (my BMI was below 13) but I was too ill for this and couldn't see that this was what my body needed so I fought against it. I was sectioned and transferred to a specialist ward for eating disorders where I stayed for the next 6 months, slowly starting to do things for myself again. My boyfriend came in to see me all the time and gave me a reason to stay alive and to keep trying to get out. That was my goal for a while, just to get out of hospital. I was discharged at the end of may this year and the last few months have been the most difficult of my life. I had to learn to survive on my own again without the threat of a section to make me eat and it was so energy sapping and mentally draining. I was existing but i wasn't really living... But then I discovered the recovery community on Instagram and joined a recovery chat on whatsapp with the most incredible and supportive people!

I want to recover, I really do but so many things about it absolutely terrify me! I have a list of fear foods that you could wrap around the empire state. I'm terrified of putting on weight and I find it incredibly hard to look at my own body. But I want to challenge this and what better way to do it than to raise money for such an amazing cause, that helps so many people in the UK who struggle with eating disorders? I'm so unbelievably passionate about this cause as its so personal to me so please sponsor me in my recovery!

The plan: I'm going to set myself a list of goals, the most terrifying; to achieve a healthy weight! I'm going to post a list of weekly goals and fear foods that I will be challenging on my Instagram blog so you can all follow my progress and see how I'm doing!

ps. I want you all to know that by challenging a fear food once doesn't mean your not scared anymore or have overcome the fear! You need to keep challenging it and constantly push yourself out of your comfort zone! Anorexia logic makes no sense I promise you!

Please donate to Beat, they are such an incredible service and have done so much to spread awareness about such misunderstood and stigmatised illnesses. They also fight for better treatment and care for more people which I believe is the most important thing because there are so many people suffering out there just hoping that they might get some help!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
