Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Please join our Newcastle team at the Concept Cup 2018 on September 14th at Goals of Gosforth to help raise money for Children North East.
Children North East began in 1891 providing a "hand up, not a hand out" to poor children living in Newcastle and Gateshead, now every year they help thousands of children and young people through all stages of their lives. That support starts even before a baby is born, for example, with the Bumps and Buddies scheme for vulnerable mothers to be. Through a programme called WHOOPS! the charity trains hundreds of parents each year to improve safety at home and prevent childhood accidents and deaths. Amongst a comprehensive range of other services Children North East also provides a one stop shop for young people at its West End Youth Enquiry Service, where it offers information, friendship and sexual health advise.
"We can never predict where our help is going to be needed," said Children North East senior fundraiser Carol Taylor. "For example, a mother escaping domestic violence might turn up with her children and they need urgent feeding and clothing. The money raised by this event is going to make such a difference throughout our services."
A few of the ways the charity help make a difference are:
- Drop in groups for young people
- Helping vulnerable young people find employment through youth services
- Social work student placements through family services
- Youth Link peer mentoring
- Counselling Services
- Helping through pregnancy and babyhood
- Helping children be ready for starting school & being confident throughout
- Valued & confident teenagers - independent sexual health advise / counselling services
Thank you so much for your support - it really does make a difference.
