Story
Over the weekend of 16th and 17th May we will be walking, running and cycling a combined 50 kilometres to support Hackney Quest. Maggie’s likely to be walking around Well St Common at 6am, with the running and cycling happening a little later in the day.
Hackney Quest have run a number of Hackney1000 events in the local area, at which the community have worked together to achieve 1000 kilometres, by running, walking, cycling, jogging, skipping their way around Well Street Common.
This year to adjust to the current situation, we'll combine kilometres ran/walked/cycled/skipped etc. [in safe, socially distanced ways] with hours spent on whatever fundraising challenge people choose to do! We're going to have people doing sponsored silences, knitathons, lipsync marathons, all sorts! When we add up all the kilometres travelled + hours spent on challenges, we're aiming to reach 1000!
All money raised will go on our work supporting local young people & families through the COVID-19 crisis - delivering food, toiletries and IT equipment on a weekly basis; running online youth sessions; providing 1:1 mentoring over the phone; liaising with schools & other professionals to coordinate support; and helping other organisations in the local community.
