Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit ourJustGiving page.
This is our third long distance ride for the charity. We will be cycling from Northampton University to Kings Lynn and back over 3 days. Colin is cycling 240 pacey miles, while Liz is covering 184 miles at a more modest pace (or slow as Colin would call it).
As with all charities, the ongoing Covid-19 situation has given them even more challenges in the last 18 months and the charity has had to work hard to adapt its services to keep its clients safe.
For over 47 years the Hope Centre have been supporting individuals to give them a helping hand up, back into a way of life which we would consider normal. This is what your sponsorship money will be supporting:-
Catering
- 1296 hot & cold meals prepared every month
- Over 600 cups of tea a month
Food Club
- On average we distribute 5 food parcels/hour during busy times.
- Food bank usage increased by a third last year.
Hand Up – since 6th July 2020 – April 2021
- 223, individual service users registered with our service as homeless (not all rough sleepers) From 6th July when Hand Up opened doors

- On average we are seeing 4 or 5 new people to our service weekly, some of them might already be registered with Hope some are completely new
- Over 100 covid safe showers provided each month
- Over 150 pairs of joggings bottoms given out each month
Learning4living- since January
- 28 registered
- 4 online employability courses (CV writing and job search skills)
- 9 digital access courses (getting people digitally connected and providing tablets which were donated by Lloyds Banking Foundation)

Finance
- It costs us over £650,000 a year to keep the charitable part of Hope open
- £4 could feed a homeless person for a day
- £5 donation would provide a bag of essential household cleaning products and toiletries for a Food Club customer
- £7 could pay for a Learning4living skills and employability starter pack (pens, paper, information pack)
- £35 would pay for a weekly food box to assist a family of four
- £70 donation could provide a Hope Supported living welcome pack (new bedding, towels, toiletries, PJ’s, slippers)
