Story

The challenge

This November Brain Tumour Research have a brand new challenge to folk to help us fund the fight against brain tumours - I'm going for this latest challenge to walk 99 miles throughout November. I have a steps app on my mobile to track the miles so my ambitious target is to average 8,000+ daily steps.

A year ago ....

A year ago I had a craniotomy operation, whilst still awake, to remove an aggressive brain tumour which would have probably killed me in three months. My operation benefitted from the leading edge of the latest research of brain tumours. I am still here, still got the gift of waking up each morning, and still living independantly! I've volunteered for a number of research projects for small cell glioblastoma (scGBM) to add to the medical knowledge of this cancer. My challenge in November is to walk the 99 miles for all the families rocked by these aggressive life changing tumours.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
