"70 Wild Miles"
I managed it !!
In the blazing heat, it was glorious but very tough going. By the 60th mile and 10 miles of uphill run in c.25c brilliant sunshine I thought walking might be valiant outcome!
I am glad to say that while I did painfully resort to walking when enduring a few attacks of cramp, I otherwise managed to keep it going and finish at a knackered jog!
I thank you all for giving so generously and by doing so assisting with making a small but appreciated difference to the future of others, unknown to you. These families, potenitally currently unaware of issues and challenges that confront them, will be helped by the good work and assistance that the people a CLIC Sargent will provide and you should feel good that you have helped.
Thanks Colin.
I hadn’t heard much of CLIC Sargent http://www.clicsargent.org.uk/ until a couple of years ago and certainly the name does not give away what they do. They are the ’s leading charity for Caring for Children & Families with Cancer.
They help the whole family with support, information and care. I came across them because before Christmas 1 1/2 years ago my brothers 2nd son, Bruce, was rushed into hospital after a ‘bad cold’ and was subsequently diagnosed with Leukaemia.
CLIC Sargent have been great with helping not just my brother’s family, Bruce is a third of the way through his 3+ year program of chemo treatment and responding well, and also those families who’s children are unfortunately battling hard with this disease.
I hope that you may be able to make a donation / sponsor me and in advance say thank you to all that have. I appreciate very much any assistance and encouragement when the event day comes. I will promise to feedback how I do in my very small relative challenge!
I will be attempting to cycle 47 miles from Glencoe down to Loch Etive where with c.100 others I will canoe 10 miles along the sea loch before the 13 mile run back up the hill to the start at Glencoe again. My ambition is to try to raise £2,000.
I know that that money is well spent to assist these very unlucky and brave children. Thank you for helping.
Colin
Every day 10 families are told their child has cancer. As the 's leading children's cancer charity, CLIC Sargent is the only organisation to offer them all round care and support. That’s because we’re there every step of the way.
