Story
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving Page!
We three, Ellen, Cara and I, are walking and snacking (if you have ever walked with children you will know this is a key part to getting to the end!) the 10 miles London Bridges Challenge and are of course visiting every playground en route too, to support the amazing work that the volunteers and staff and donors of Diabetes UK do together. It will be a challenge for all of us - and we are hoping to get as far as possible - as the girls are great walkers but this is a long way for shorter legs.
Diabetes is a nasty condition that once you have, you have for life. Diabetes UK does research to find a cure and to make life easier for people with diabetes, we care and provide services, we connect people with diabetes to others to share learning and support and we campaign to improve healthcare. The volunteer and staff team do amazing work and we aspire to do much more:
In the UK £0.05 is spent on research on diabetes for every £1 spent on treating it. There are still too many people undiagnosed, and therefore racking up complications. Diabetes is the leading cause of strokes, heart attacks, working age blindness, and amputations and yet there is a postcode lottery of diabetes care across the UK which we are tackling.
It would be great if you could donate so we can raise as much as possible to help us provide the vital support people need to ensure they don’t face diabetes alone. Thank you.
