2nd CODE 24 Hour Gameathon.
Theory behind the madness!
Why would grown up people take part in a 24 hour Gameathon?
Sounds crazy enough, but all for the greater good. Believe it or not, the average age of the UK gamer is 28, which might be higher than you thought! Strangely, 51% of the 36 to 50s play games, and that number is growing. Which actually makes perfect sense, since
the Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and the SEGA Mega Drive were introduced to the world back the early to mid 90's. People who grow up playing these consoles have continued gaming and has become a part of our lives. So why not take what we love doing and raise some money for charity?! Spawning the idea for a 24 hour Gameathon.
Why SpecialEffect?
Well it was pretty much a no-brainer to choose this charity, as they tirelessly raise money for people with physical disabilities so they can enjoy video games!
SpecialEffect create adaptive technology so that people who have lost the use of limbs can still develop and enjoy video games in the same way as you and I. They bring families and friends together and the work they do has a profoundly positive impact on therapy, confidence and rehabilitation.
Please follow this link to the SpecialEffect website and you’ll see for
yourself how much of a massive impact this charity has had and the heartwarming stories (as well as tear jerking) that accompany it.
