Story
I love a challenge! Those of you that know me well will know
that this is one of several long walks that I have done in recent years. My brother in law, Donald, actually took me to the start of the West Highland Way in 2015 and I recall his struggle, oxygen cylinder in tow, to make it from his car to the starting point, so that he could
send me off on my way.
Now, some two years later, Donald is no longer with us. His breathing difficulties were enormous towards the end of his life, but as someone with schizophrenia, he had undoubtedly known even greater battles with mental health issues, throughout all of his adult life. As I walk from St. Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood’s Bay in Yorkshire, a distance of 200 miles, I will be remembering Donald with great affection and admiration.
I invite you to sponsor me in his memory. All monies raised
will go to the mental health charity, Mind.
