Why am I doing this?

1) Because I believe in what MAF does to empower organisations such as those listed here: http://www.maf-uk.org/Home/Who_we_help/Agencies_and_Partners/106.id

2) Because an hours' discomfort to help people in situations like these, seems the least I can do.

 

Why MAF?

In the UK most of us eat every day, we enjoy a comprehensive road system and there is a doctor not far away.

That's not the case for at least 35 countries and a large swathe of the worlds population.  Mission Aviation Fellowship works in those 35 countries to help hundreds of other charities and NGO's to deliver what they deliver - Medecins Sans Frontieres, Samaritans Purse, missions offering cataract operations, water development projects, the list goes on. 

MAF have been one of the first on the scene in many natural disaster situations - Mozambique 2000,  Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004, Haiti Earthquake is the most recent.  Without MAF most of the charities working in these areas could not do their work because of the difficulties of travel and transportation in remote places.  MAF operates a fleet of 130 small aircraft to help bridge this gap.  It is a Christian Charity helping a wide range of NGO and other organisations to serve those for whom flying is not a luxury but a lifeline.
