Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My aim is to raise £1000 for the Hannah Memorial Academy by cycling from John O'Groats to Land's End. I will be predominantly camping along the way, carrying all of my own gear without any practical support from anyone else.
The Hannah Memorial Academy is a school in the Darjeeling region of India that was set up in 2005 in memory of the Southampton schoolgirl Hannah Foster. The school provides a full-time education for over 100 children in one of the poorest areas of India - without the school many of these children would receive no education at all. Any money raised will go directly to the school, and since it is such a poor region even a few pounds can make a real difference.
I decided to raise money for the school having become aware of it through my cricket club, the Southampton Travellers. Hannah's father Trevor has had a long association with the club, hence the link, and having read some of the history I was touched not only by the tragic circumstances of Hannah's death, but also of the amazing story of how the school was subsequently created.
Thanks for any support you can give :-)
