Climb For Jez And MND Association

My brother Jez was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, and sadly taken away far too early in August 2015 at the age of 47. His legacy was 4 wonderful children who sadly miss him every day. He would be so proud of them.
Jez lived life to the full, always fun to be around. Although the disease took his life, he did not let it beat him mentally when he was alive. He insisted on doing the fun things he wanted to do. When diagnosed, support was quickly offered by the MND Association. The Yorkshire
Dales Branch provided invaluable emotional support not just to Jez, but also family members who were suffering, as well as any practical support he required.
In 2013, and with the support of Jez, I organized a charity bike ride “Le Tour De Yorkshire” and almost £15,000 was raised. A wonderful weekend and some great memories. I was proud to be asked with Jez in 2014 to meet Princess Anne, who is patron of the MND Association. What a special moment for the both of us!
Until a cure is found, they will be many others diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, and many families will be affected. That is why it is so important to continue raising funds for research and the local branches.
As many of you will know, I have a keen interest in Road Cycling. Like other cyclists, I always have been fascinated by climbs. You don’t chat about the 50 miles of flat road you have just cycled, but instead the jubilation, pain and other emotions of climbing is the talking point !
I have decided to set myself a personal challenge and attempt to complete the “100 Greatest Cycling Climbs” in the UK. To make it a little harder, I won’t just be climbing each mountain, but instead each climb will be included in a normal daily ride of between 50 to 100 miles. The challenge will not be time bound and I would envisage this may take 2 years, maybe longer to complete. Cycling buddies, family, friends and anyone else can join me on any of these climbs.
Money raised will be split between MND research and the Yorkshire
Dales Branch.
Updates of my journey will be on my face book page
