Story

Thankyou for taking time to visit our ‘Smile Love & Be Kind’ Bath Half Marathon 2018 Page.

*****As the Bath Half was cancelled due to snow and not rescheduled we have decided to run our own half marathon during the Easter holidays Sun 7th April 6am ( while Megan is home ) ! Our Bath Half entry fees have been donated to our Just Giving Page for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and the Smile Love and Be kind Team ! xx

The three of us (Clare Rob & Meg) are running the Bath Half Marathon on the 4th March in Memory of Emmy Coates to Raise Money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. None of us have ever attempted a Half Marathon before so it is a massive challenge..

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. They ensure their nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, they will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.

Tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us. Clare was deeply moved by the story of Emmy Coates who fought bravely though terminally ill to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. Including a 2000 mile tandem bike ride, writing books, and shining the light for the Royal Marsden.  She and her husband Jake bravely fought her Cancer but she very sadly passed away 16th June 2017.

Since Emmy passed last June &  having been made aware of the wonderful work the Royal Marsden does I wanted to do something to help the Charity.  Clare has turned 50, our twins go to University in Bath ……..so Bath Half Marathon it was. The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity has provided us with Royal Marsden running vests to fly the flag and banners for our supporters to cheer us on!

Emmy’s Motto was 'Smile Love and Be Kind' & has been included on a specially designed bracelet. Clare has one and will be wearing it in her memory for the Race along with her good luck Charming Rewards Bracelet.

Thank you in advance for every single penny donated. It absolutely means the world to us and will do so much to help those with Cancer.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money
directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Wish us luck
