I've grown up around running as Dad was a keen athlete back in 'the day'.  He ran the London marathon about 5 times and I promised that one day I would too.  Following a car accident Dad had his leg amputated.  This completely knocked his confidence and he felt he couldn't do the active things he could previously.  Luckily for him someone suggested he join BLESMA (British Limbless Ex-Servicemen Association).   They supported him to participate in the Fastnet sailing race in 2011.  This was just the new start Dad needed, he finally got his 'sparkle' back.  Since then he has been lucky enough to be  part of different events such as climbing and white water rafting in Colorado, photography and cycling.  He gets  to meet like minded people who understand what he's been through.

In recent years Dad has spent his time caring for my Mum, who died in November 2014 and trying to look after himself (as he's suffered some health issues too).  It means the world to me that I can run the London marathon ( my own personal dream) and that my Dad can see me do it.  My aim is to raise as much as possible for this amazing charity who have given us our Dad back....thanks BLESMA.
