Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
I am taking part in the half marathon, Run to the Beat, on 8 September 2013 in London with my sisters Clare and Katherine.
The words “you have a brain tumour” are something you hope never to hear but on 6 January 2012 I heard that exact sentence and was diagnosed with a meningioma brain tumour. Petrified, numb and in shock I underwent surgery on 18 February 2012 to remove it. My meningioma was benign and I didn’t require any further treatment but will require annual MRI scans and checks for 5 years. I count myself as extremely lucky having survived and have huge respect for the medical team who got me back to good health.
We want to raise money for vital research to be done on brain tumours which is why we are running for the charity Brain Tumour Research. In the UK more children and people under 40 die of a brain tumour than any other cancer yet it receives less than 1% of national cancer research spending.
