Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am happy to be raising sponsorship in aid of the valuable work of Crisis, the national charity for homeless people.
This event was completed on 4th June in the company of Sister Rose FMSL. A huge thanks is due to all who supported and sponsored this Winged Walk for Crisis.
Originally, I had planned a Wing walk challenge, having really enjoyed the experience of a sponsored tandem skydive for a local homeless charity in 2017.The event had to be postponed due to coronavirus prevention measures and health issues from the planned date of 6th June 2020 and was rescheduled for 4th June 2022.
In early April 2022, my community offered to double the sponsorship funds already raised, if I converted the planned Wing Walk to a ground-based challenge. This generous offer, which would smash my fundraising target, was gratefully accepted, due to the increased benefit to Crisis UK. Therefore, on the same date, 4thJune, 2022, I decided to undertake instead a ‘Winged Walk’ for 20 miles along the South Coast from Brighton to Littlehampton. Sr Rose walked with me during the whole event on the 4th June. The wings were a link to the original challenge. Instead of being on the wings (of a plane), as planned originally, the wings were on me. I am so grateful to Teddy Tinkers Emporium in St Leonards-on-Sea for kindly donating my wings. I thank all my wonderful sponsors for getting behind this new challenge.
If you are able to show your support with a small donation it will also help Crisis towards its goal of ending homelessness. £873 has been raised offline as of 18th November 2021 and sent to Crisis. £500 was also raised for this event through a Virgin Money Giving page (this service was discontinued in November 2021) and this went directly to Crisis. It has been added to the offline total on this page. Every little helps. Thank you very much. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
