PROGRESS REPORT - as at 21st March 2010
Well, we are there!! YOUR generosity has enabled me to reach the required target for fund-raising! Wonderful. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! But, if you are visiting my page so you can donate, please don't be put off. The more money raised, the more funds can be used to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes.
My training is going really well. I've now completed three 20 mile runs all on roads, so I hope that's enough long ones to see me through. I'm now going to start reducing my distances as it would be total disaster to get injured at this stage. Can't say I enjoy running 20 miles, my legs start to really hurt at about 14-16, but then improve to 19 with the last mile being agony. (I do alot of clock-watching during the last mile - can't help myself.)
Thanks for visiting my page. I am very grateful.
PROGRESS REPORT - as at 6 March 2010
Thought I should update this page!! After weeks of gruelling, cold, wet runs training this week turned a corner. On Monday I ran 20 miles on road in 3 hours 24 minutes!!!! I am very pleased with myself. What a difference to all the previous weeks. I am certain it's because Spring has arrived. There was no need for gloves or a jacket and the sun shone the whole way round. Marvellous! Before that I was slightly worried I had set myself too great a challenge, but now I feel I CAN do this! What an achievement this will be for me as a Type 1 diabetic who's nearly 40 (but not yet unlike Colin - he's a whole decade older than me at the moment! Ha ha!)
Of course the training is only half the story and I need YOUR help with the other half - the fund-raising. Thanks for visiting my just giving page and for your contribution. I am very very grateful.
I hope to do the same again next Tuesday or maybe even 21 miles (perhaps I'm getting carried away!)
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Well, it's happened - I've gone completely crazy! Philippa (my running buddy - who is definitely bonkers) and I have decided to go the whole hog and run the London Marathon. After all it's only 26 miles!! Now, (here comes the begging bowl) I need your help to raise some money for the charity I am running for - the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). This charity is solely concerned with Type 1 diabetes, so clearly it is close to my heart being a sufferer of Type 1 diabetes since I was 15. Also, the JDRF deals extensively with children who have this condition. So please support me if you can.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Also, I don't then NEED to finish the race! Ha ha.
So please dig deep and donate now.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
