Go the Distance 2019 · 22 September 2019 ·

Runners and walkers unite, taking on a 5km or 10km route along Worthing Promenade to help end local homelessness. It costs £1,462 a day to run Turning Tides 3 Community Hubs, used by 228 people over the last 3 months. Every bit of fundraising helps!

Story

I'm taking part in Turning Tides' 'Go the Distance' to help raise awareness and money to end local homelessness. Turning Tides work in Worthing, Littlehampton, Horsham, Mid Sussex and East Grinstead, helping those who are sleeping rough or insecurely housed. They provide services and support ranging from one-off advice over the phone or at their Community Hubs, a hot breakfast or shower, to providing support in one of their 24/7 accommodations. They can house 169 people at any one time across their 15 properties, which vary in support level, these are almost always at 100% occupancy. It costs Turning Tides £1,462 a day to run their Community Hubs (in Worthing, Littlehampton and Horsham). In the last 3 months 228 people accessed the breakfast sessions at these hubs. They truly are a lifeline to the 67 rough sleepers and the 68 insecurely housed men and woman known to Turning Tides in your our area. Thank you for supporting me, Turning Tides and the local community!
