Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Clare and Michael Cavanagh (daughter and father superteam!) will be walking the 62 miles of St Cuthbert's Way, beginning in Melrose on Saturday 25th June, walking across the Scottish Borders, into Northumberland, and finishing at Holy Island.
We will be walking to raise funds to support the Edinburgh Centre for Neuro-Oncology (ECNO) and the ongoing brain tumour research (particularly regarding glioblastomas - an aggressive type of brain tumour) through ECNO at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh. As most of you reading this will know, this is a topic very close to our hearts and we would be so grateful if you could donate to this very important cause.
The team at ECNO and at the Western General have provided incredible support, encouragement and kindness to our family throughout diagnosis, surgery, and recovery care. We would like to thank them and are so glad to assist in funding the excellent ongoing research. We were saddened and shocked to discover that only 2% of the cancer research funding in the UK is spent on brain tumours, with over 5,000 people losing their lives to a brain tumour every year. Let's help ECNO to find a cure and beat Toni the Tumour once and for all!
Thank you so much.

Also, below is some additional information from ECNO:
"The Edinburgh Centre for Neuro-Oncology (ECNO) provides a first-class neuro-oncology service to patients, their families and carers. ECNO provides an easily accessible, coordinated point of contact for patients and their carers to access support, information and advice when they require it. ECNO also actively promotes research in a number of different fields into the treatment and understanding of brain tumours which in turn will lead to faster and more effective treatment and a better quality of life for patients. ECNO is one of the leading neuro-oncology centres in the UK. We are also aiming to be involved in trialling many models of new treatments and therapies to provide patients with many more treatment options. We want to ensure that we provide the best care possible for our patients, their families and their carers."
