Dorothy House is a wonderful hospice which works tirelessly to improve the lives of those living with terminal illness. They helped me and my dad and my family at a very difficult time in our lives. Sadly they were involved because dad was at the end of his life but when dad first asked me if I'd like to join him on his Dorothy house day I was apprehensive of spending time at a Hospice. I needn't have worried, there was nothing sad about the place... it was surprisingly full of life, so peaceful and inspiring, and no wonder dad enjoyed it so much...they did a great lunch with old school puds such as spotted dick and treacle sponge!!! dad so loved his puddings!!!! I think dad was also a little unsure of how he'd fit in but I'm so proud of how he embraced a very different lifestyle... more used to running up and down a football field refereeing... a day of jewellery making or glass painting probably scared him senseless but settle in he did and he actually really looked forward to his days at Dorothy House, in fact when he was well enough he's stand for many hrs shaking his fundraising bucket. So its as much to carry on my dad's fundraising efforts that I'm doing the midnight walk as it is for him to get a giggle looking down on me setting off at midnight for a walk... mind you he always knew I was a bit of a night owl so it shouldn't be too much of a challenge... To be honest I'm looking forward to it... so please sponsor me... not because its a difficult thing for me to do... but because Dorothy House is such a worthy cause... they get no funding from the government... they operate souly on the money they raise through events such as these.
