Story
As many of you know my cousin Hazel lost her husband Rich in January this year. BATs, Buddies Against Tumours has been set up to raise funds through several events for brain tumour research.
You can find out more by visiting http://www.buddiesagainsttumours.co.uk/ and http://www.thebraintumourcharity.org/richardhallBATs , which also tells you about some of the work Rich did in his lifetime to protect all of us.
As part of the fundraising I agreed to take part in the Great South Run. It seemed a long way off at the time!!!! But the year was whizzing by and I hadn’t run since leaving school (and we all know how long ago that was!!!).
By June I needed to do something and a colleague (thanks Simon) recommended I follow the couch to 5K plan from the NHS to get me started. So that’s what I did. I started by running for 60 seconds followed by a 90 second walk repeatedly for 20 minutes, then I built up each week. I completed the course running 5K in half an hour at the end of July. I am now (mid Sept) up to 8 miles without stopping!!! WHOOP, WHOOP! I have put in all this hard work in because the work that Hazel is doing with BATs is so important to me and my family. Hazel and their son Will are also completing the 10 mile run, so we all need as much support as possible to make a difference.
THANK YOU!!!!!!
