Story
On the 4th November this year I will be running the New York Marathon in aid of Action Cancer.
Unfortunately I have seen first hand how cancer can affect the lives of those closest to us having lost 4 aunts to the disease.
When I was only 6/7 years old my Aunt Isabel was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. After undergoing surgery for a mastectomy followed by both radio & chemo therapy to battle the disease, she was given the all clear.
Unfortunately in 2008 the disease came back in the form of lung cancer. She was taken into hospital in October 2008 and within 3 weeks passed away.
I will be running the marathon in her memory as she was and still is the most inspiring person I have ever known. She is missed every day and more so on a Friday night when she would have come for dinner and Christmas day when her arrival was the most anticipated part of the day (except for Santa's that is). And no matter when or where we met she was always there with a beaming smile and a warm heart-filled hug to light up the day.
