Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Here we are for the second year round, last year Jim and I took part in this fantastic trek in order to raise money for Macmillan. At that time my mum had cancer and was going through Chemotherapy and we were full of hope that the Chemotherapy would buy us precious time. Unfortunately we were not that lucky.
My wonderful mum was fairly well, up until Christmas, after which she went rapidly downhill. On the 7th of January 2014 she went to St Michaels Hospice in Hereford, a place that she had previously visited for alternative therapies but a place none of us wanted to contemplate would be the final place.
When she went there she felt much more comfortable, her beloved dog Megan was allowed to stay with her and even slept on her bed. The nurses were unbelievable, with patience, care, and respect. The doctors were open, honest and caring and the Matron gave me the biggest bear hug when i needed it most!
The Hospice cares for the family as well as the patient. I was told i was on a very special journey with my Mum, so now i want to raise money for the hospice that will support others on this journey. St Michaels are currently expanding, so as more patients can have private rooms and family to stay. Really important facilities and support during really awful circumstances.
This year myself and Jim will be doing this trek in my mum's memory and we are hoping to be joined by other family members and friends and i will update as people sign up. We will appreciate any donation you can give and thank you in advance for your support.
