Many of you will know that my nieces and nephew mean the world to me so i have decided to do a 13,000 feet tandem skydive for Bristol Children's Hospital as they have helped the majority of my nieces and my nephew in many different ways!
Ruby’s Story…
Ruby developed arthritis in her right ankle at the age of 2. She has no immediate family history of arthritis, and most people do not associate this condition with a young child. As well as many local hospitals appointments, Ruby was referred to Bristol Children’s Hospital. After investigation she received a corticosteroid injection to her ankle, which has since caused her no problems, allowing her to enjoy swimming, ballet and tap dance as well as the usual childhood antics. Ruby also had her jaw joints (TMJ’s) injected in 2011 to relieve inflammatory activity.
Ruby is currently still visiting Bristol Children’s Hospital and the Bristol Eye Hospital most months as she developed Uveitis in her eyes associated with the Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. Her eye condition is mostly stable but she is still receiving medication and will be for at least a year or two.
Ruby’s parents, Richard and Amanda, said ’we appreciate the support for Bristol Children’s Hospital as we acknowledge all the good work they do and help that they provide, not just to our daughter, but many other children with different and varying conditions’.
Abigail’s Story…
Abigail arrived into this world on 12 July 2006 and at just 5lb 2ozhad to be taken in to intensive care because she was so small.
At 3 months old Abigail was admitted to the hospital with a meningitis scare. Thankfully a scare is all it was as it turned out she had a virus. She soon made a speedy recovery and returned home.
Tilly’s Story…
Tilly spent the first four days of her life at the hospital as when she was born it was found that she had an irregular heartbeat. After being closely monitored she was allowed to go home but the hospital still kept an eye on her with check ups every 3 months. Thankfully, after 12 months she was discharged.
Tristan’s Story…
Tristan, my handsome little nephew, was born with his middle finger missing on his left hand and slight webbing on the two fingers left of the missing finger. This year, Tristan will undergo cosmetic surgery to close the gap of the missing finger and to unweb the two other fingers.
