Story
I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 16, obviously this was a huge shock to all my friends and family. luckily friends of the Cancer centre were there to support my family and I through all the difficult decisions we were about to face. Friends provided me with two support workers, Renee and Simon, who took time out of their day to come and chat about how I was feeling, discuss further treatment plans or just provide some general chitchat to pass the long hours spent on chemotherapy. These support workers continued providing support right up until my final hospital appointment in may of 2022.
My dad and I have decided to join the sponsored walk up Slieve Donard to raise money for the charity that support me through the hardest part of my life and we would greatly appreciate every penny you would be willing to donate.
Join Friends of the Cancer Centre on Saturday 10th September 2022 as we climb 850m up Northern Irelands highest peak, Slieve Donard, to raise funds to support local families affected by cancer. It is set to be a fantastic day and we really hope lots of people sign-up and join us as we take on the climb to the summit, where on a clear day you can see as far as the Isle of Man and Scotland. This will be a great personal challenge and it will give people a real sense of achievement when they reach the top of Slieve Donard. Each step will raise money which will help support thousands of people across Northern Ireland who have been affected by cancer.
