Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Claire Christian, I am a local fashion designer and business woman originally born on the Isle of Man. When I was asked to take part in Strictly Manx this year, I didn't need to think twice about it. What an amazing local event, and a wonderful opportunity to raise money for charity whilst learning something wonderfully new.
I have no previous dancing experience; in fact I was thrown out of ballet at 4 years old. I can't do Zumba because I knock people over, and find it hard to remember any routines! Which means this is going to be quite a huge transformation!
I am dancing in Strictly Manx to raise money for The Forget Me Not Charity - IOM. This charity was established in 2018 to fund dementia support for sufferers and their families living in the Isle of Man. One of the charities founders is a very close friend of mine, who's mum fought and sadly lost her battle against dementia. Having seen how this disease affected a very close family, I am very passionate about raising money and awareness of this charity.
The charity has been working with Dementia UK and Hospice Isle of Man, to introduce an Admiral Nurse service in the Isle of Man. Admiral Nurses are highly skilled registered nurses who are specialised in dementia care, supporting both the sufferer and their families.
Now entirely funding the island's first Admiral Nurse, all contributions to Forget me Not (however large or small) go towards sustaining this invaluable position and, in the future, will allow for the expansion of the service throughout the island.
Please sponsor me in this amazing challenge in aid of such a worthy cause. Thank you for your generosity, and I hope you enjoy the show and watch me truly "give it my all" in a spectacular dance just for you!
Love
Claire
