Story
I am walking non-stop (except for toilet breaks, bandaging of feet and essential wolfing down of large vats of pasta) from London to Brighton. We set off early on Saturday 24th May and hope to arrive in Brighton on the morning of Sunday 25th May. I'm walking with my friend Alice and we would love to complete the 100km (62 miles) in under 24 hours but however long it takes us, we're determined to finish. Most of the course is off-road, which means that during the night we'll be ploughing through fields in the dark, aided only by ill-fitting head torches.
It will probably be horrendous. I have already become resigned to not being able to wear sandals for at least 4 years.
Please help us get to the finish by sponsoring me. I am raising money for the brilliant Marie Curie Cancer Care, a UK charity dedicated to the care of people with terminal illnesses.
It provides nursing care, without charge, to terminally ill people at home and in hospices. Marie Curie Nurses, always free of charge to patients and carers, provide home care for thousands of people with terminal cancer and other illnesses across the UK every year. As of 2013 Marie Curie Nurses cared for around 50 per cent of all cancer patients who die at home, working by day or through the night.
The nurses also provide practical and emotional support for families and carers.
