Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In Jan 2016 i was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to deal with. What made it worse was that Auntie Jac was also suffering with cancer. Seeing the pain that she was going through and knowing I was losing her was undescribable. I didnt want to lose her... Aside from that I was terrified that i would have to go through what she was going thorugh.
On the 8th April 2016 Auntie Jac passed away in the amazing care of St Margarets Hospice in Taunton, where she had been for the previous 6 weeks or so. Her funeral was heartbreaking; to make things worse I had to travel back to the Velindre for my 3rd radiotherapy treatment afterwards.
As it turned out, I was the lucky one & have now been nearly two years cancer free. Auntie Jac had been fighting cancer for about 5 years. Throughout this time, when i was healthy enough, I would go to the gym and get on the treadmill and run until it hurt, knowing that my hurt was nothing compared to what she was going through - unfortunaltely she never knew this, but it was my way of helping her & dealing with it.
So it seemed fitting to do a run in her memory and to raise money for St Margarets Hospice who gave her the most amazing end of life care.
I'm certainly not a fast runner and have never run this distance before so plodding across the finish line will my main aim and will be a big achievement! So, to all of you who know me and my struggle, or more importantly knew Auntie Jac - please, please, dig deep and sponsor me for my run to celebrate her life and our special relationship.
