Thanks for taking the time to visit my page
During the next 8 weeks through July and August I am intending to walk at least 310 miles (500km) which is the distance from Newcastle where my husband Ian grew up to Crawley where we met and have lived on and off over the years, to help raise money for WAY - Widowed and Young.
Just over 4 years ago I started on a roller coaster ride that I never expected or wanted. For 15 months Ian put up a fight but one that the odds were stacked against him... Then half an hour before my 46th birthday I became a Widow.
So, at 46 I started on V2.0 of my life... I am lucky that I have made some fantastic new friends and re-connected with some old ones but there are still times when I struggled ... At the start of last year I discovered and joined WAY
WAY is UK charity that offers a peer to peer support network for anyone who's lost a partner before their 51st birthday - married or not, with or without children and whatever their sexual orientation...
It is a club that no one wants to be eligible to join but surprising and sadly there is a lot of us in it.. It is a place that in the middle of the darkness is a welcoming light of hope, support, friendship and understanding that is truly unique.
Over the recent months there has been a lot of new members joining so anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated...
During July, August and September WAY members will be attempting different distances of running or walking to raise awareness and funds for this amazing charity
£2 pays for a WAY member to have access to the WAY support helpline providing
1:1 telephone advice and counselling (24hrs a day/365 days a year)
£5 pays for marketing materials to reach out to 100 young bereaved people who could benefit from join way
£25 pays for a grieving person who cannot afford the membership to join WAY for a year
Many thanks
Cheers
Claire
