Story
Hello and thank you for viewing my page,
It’s been a few years since I have done an event for charity so thought it was about time for another one, I have chosen cancer research UK this time as they do so much for the people who get the bad news. Although I have not been directly affected by cancer I have known people and families go through it and know the effort that Cancer research UK make to ensure the patients life is more comfortable with a brighter outcome and with the end goal of beating cancer full stop.
So the challenge I have taken on is a race called city to summit (sound good doesn’t it!!) this is a full iron distance triathlon event which consists of the following,
· 2.4 Mile Swim in the firth of forth (between the two bridges in Edinburgh) this consists of two laps in icy cold waters.
· 118 Mile Bike from South Queensferry (swim finish) to Glencoe where we will cycle some of the most scenic roads in the country, unfortunately I will not have the time to enjoy them as there is also 2500 meters of ascent during the cycle.
· 27 Mile Run from Glencoe to Glen Nevis, which unfortunately takes us to the summit of Ben Nevis and back down again and includes 2400 meters of ascent. (yes it really is the icing on the cake)
Now some people can opt to do this over two days but after competing in other iron distance races where you do not get that option I will be doing this in one day and only stopping to refuel my body and take in the view from the top of the Ben.
I have added links below so you can see the route I will be taking so please dig deep and let’s get the donations rolling in.
I have also added some photos from an event I competed in last year for you to have a look at if you want to see what it’s all about.
Please feel free to pass my link on to all that you know as the more money and encouraging comments I get might just ease the pain of all the training and on race day (well possibly not race day to be honest!!)
