To help raise support for the Circles of Influence campaign at the University of Birmingham, we are riding a tandem in Race Around Ireland. This is an ultra-distance cycle race described as Europe's toughest cycling challenge. The race distance is 1350 miles and we will be cycling 275 miles a day for 5 days in order to complete the course in the race time of 132 hours. It is the equivalent of cycling from Birmingham to Lands End every day for 5 days!
We are doing this to support the University of Birmingham's world-class centre for Cancer Sciences, which combines the talents of leading academics with the excellent surgeons at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Birmingham Children's Hospital and is improving the lives of people who have been touched by cancer worldwide.
Supporting the Circles of Influence campaign will help to give children the best chance at beating brain cancer, to improve the life expectancy for prostate cancer patients and a chance of symptom relief, and to speed up diagnosis and provide personalised breast cancer treatments for sufferers.
