Story
For those that sponsored me for my 2019 marathon you will know that i had very personal reasons for choosing Pancreatic Cancer UK as my chosen charity having lost my Dad to that disease specifically and my Mum to another form of cancer. .
With your help I raised a fantastic amount of money far in excess of what i had expected and that has gone toward continuing the research and campaigning that Pancreatic Cancer UK is doing to improve survival and early diagnosis rates.
I have now decided to take on the challenge again and will run for Disability Rights UK.
If like me, when you see the word 'Disability', you think physically disabled, then you are are only seeing part of the picture in terms of the work that Disability Rights UK do. Disability in this context has a far broader definition including grave illness, such as Cancer, and mental health.
My mum worked in the care sector for most of her life until she was diagnosed and was a champion for equality and fairness. This is my attempt to support a charity that may be less well known but, shares these same values and supports many cancer charities and sufferers to ensure they receive fair treatment, can participate equally and live as normal a life as possible as my own mum was able to for 3 years after being diagnosed.
Thanks for your support.
My page donations will be sent direct to the charity in a fast and secure way. Its efficient, saves time and cuts costs for the charity. Let's do this!
