Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have been diagnosed as being BRCA1 positive - which means I have a very high risk of getting breast/ovarian cancer. It is thanks to the research and development of treatments by charities such as Cancer Focus NI, I am now in a position to be proactive and have preventative surgery to reduce my risks. I know there are many, many people who would have given anything to be given the opportunity that I now have, and I am so grateful to be able to take the necessary steps. My hope is that with the correct funding, further research into BRCA could help to change the future for the next generations.

Also, as many of you know my family has had to deal with 'The Big C' first hand in recent years... as most families have. Thankfully we can say the outcome was amazing and my dad Jim was one of the lucky ones who beat cancer not once, but twice! Apart from the amazing work done behind the scenes with medical research, Cancer Focus NI provide great support for patients and families at a time when it is needed most.

These are my reasons for wanting to raise a few pounds for Cancer Focus NI, and I thank you all for taking the time to visit this page and donate.
